PDF Rotate

Rotate all pages of a PDF at once

Rotation angle (clockwise)

This applies the same rotation to every page in the file; rotating a single page isn't supported. Everything is processed locally in your browser; your file is never uploaded.

About PDF Rotate

This tool rotates the pages of a PDF by 90, 180 or 270 degrees clockwise and downloads the rotated copy. A typical use is fixing a document that was scanned upside down or sideways, or a landscape table that shows the wrong way up. Its main limitation is that the rotation is applied to every page in the file; you cannot rotate just some pages. There is also no rotated preview, so you open the downloaded file to check the result.

How to use it

  1. Click the dashed box that says Click to select a PDF file and choose the PDF you want to process. The box then shows the file name.
  2. Under Rotation angle (clockwise), click 90°, 180° or 270°. 90° is selected by default.
  3. Click Rotate & Download. The button stays disabled until a file is chosen, and reads Processing… while it works.
  4. Your browser downloads a file called rotated-result.pdf. Open it in any PDF viewer to check the orientation. If it is wrong, go back to the original file, pick a different angle and run it again.

How angles combine

Every PDF page can carry its own rotation value (0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees). The tool does not overwrite that value. It adds your chosen angle to the existing one and takes the remainder after dividing by 360. The following is the actual result of running the same PDF library (pdf-lib). We created a three-page test file whose pages had existing rotations of 0, 90 and 0 degrees, and applied 270. After saving and reloading, the pages had rotations of 270, 0 and 270. The second page was already at 90, and 90 plus 270 is 360, which wraps back to 0. So if some pages in your file were already rotated, they keep their relative difference from the others after a uniform rotation.

Limits

  • The whole file is rotated together. You cannot choose a page range or rotate a single page.
  • Only the three fixed options 90°, 180° and 270° exist. There is no free angle. For a counter-clockwise quarter turn, choose 270°.
  • There is no rotated preview, so rely on the downloaded file.
  • The change is made to each page's display rotation property. Page content is not redrawn, so text and images are not recompressed or degraded.
  • Files protected by an open password, and damaged files, fail with the message: Processing failed. Please make sure the file isn't corrupted, or try again.
  • One file at a time; there is no batch mode.

Will the file get bigger after rotating?

Usually not by much. The tool only changes each page's rotation value and then saves the document again, without regenerating page content. Because the document is written out afresh, its size can differ slightly from the original. We have not run a size comparison across files, so we do not promise any figure.

Is text still searchable in a rotated scan?

Rotation does not change whether a text layer exists. If the original has searchable text, it still does after rotation. If the original is a pure image scan, it remains an image and does not become searchable.

Why does nothing seem to change in my viewer?

A few viewers ignore the page rotation value, or apply a view rotation they saved earlier when opening the file. If you see no change in one viewer, open the result in another common viewer or in your browser to confirm.

Can I rotate only page 3?

Not with this tool, which uses one angle for all pages. If only a few pages need fixing, you could split the file with another PDF tool, rotate the part you need and merge it back, or use desktop PDF editing software.

Privacy and processing

The PDF you choose is read and processed only inside your browser by the bundled pdf-lib component, and the page contains no code that uploads it. The rotated file is downloaded straight to your device and the tool keeps no copy. After working with sensitive files, delete the downloads you no longer need.
