Calculate overtime pay using statutory multipliers
Leave empty to use the monthly salary above (default). If your contract or local rules use a different base, such as basic salary only, enter that amount here.
This calculation is based on the overtime pay multipliers set out in Article 44 of China's Labor Law: at least 150% of wages for extended hours on a workday, at least 200% for work on a rest day with no compensatory leave arranged, and at least 300% for work on a statutory holiday. Actual overtime pay may also be affected by local regulations, company policy, and the labor contract — this result is for reference only; refer to your actual situation and the applicable laws.
The Overtime Pay Calculator uses the multipliers from Article 44 of China's Labor Law. It turns your monthly salary into an hourly wage, then multiplies by the multiplier for the type of overtime and the number of overtime hours to estimate the overtime pay. It is useful for a quick sanity check of what appears on a payslip, but it is not legal advice. It cannot tell whether your employer uses a comprehensive working-hours system, whether time off in lieu should apply, or whether local rules differ. The page itself says the result is for reference only and that the actual situation and applicable laws govern.
These figures come from running the same formulas as the tool. With a monthly salary of 10000, 21.75 paid days and 8 hours a day, the hourly wage is 10000 / 21.75 / 8 = 57.47. Three hours of workday overtime at 1.5x gives 57.47 x 1.5 x 3 = 258.62. Eight hours of rest-day overtime with no compensatory leave at 2x comes to 919.54, and eight hours on a statutory holiday at 3x comes to 1379.31. If you change the paid days to 22, the hourly wage becomes 56.82, which shows how much the paid-days setting affects the result.
21.75 is the widely used monthly paid-day figure. It comes from the yearly average after weekends and public holidays are removed: 365 days minus 104 rest days, divided by 12 months. Some employers use 21.75, 22 or another figure, so change it to match your contract or company policy.
That depends on your contract and local rules, and the tool does not decide for you. By default it treats the number in the salary box as the full base. If you want a calculation based on basic pay only, enter your basic pay in the optional "Overtime pay base" field (or simply change the salary).
Under the law, rest-day overtime can be compensated with time off instead of pay, whereas statutory holiday work is paid at 300% and is generally not replaced by time off. For your situation, ask the local labour authority or a professional. This tool only does the arithmetic.
No. It is an estimate that ignores your pay structure, working-hours system and local rules. Use it only as a reference when checking your payslip.
All calculations happen in your browser. The salary and overtime hours you enter are not sent to a server or stored, and refreshing the page restores the defaults.
