Zip Code Lookup is a built-in quick-reference table of postal codes for major cities around the world. It holds 1,216 records across 65 countries and regions, including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, Singapore and South Korea. You can search by city name or code, filter by country, and click a code to copy it. It is important to understand what it is: the codes are overview-level, representative codes for each city, not street-level or building-level codes. For mailing, official forms, customs declarations or online shop addresses, use the full postal code given by the local postal service or by the recipient. The data is a static table inside the page, so lookups do not go online.
China has 39 cities, including the four municipalities and provincial capitals: Beijing 100000, Shanghai 200000, Hangzhou (Zhejiang) 310000, Guangzhou (Guangdong) 510000 and Chengdu (Sichuan) 610000. The United States has 52 records, for example New York (NY) 10001, Los Angeles (CA) 90001, San Francisco 94102, Chicago 60601 and Washington, D.C. 20001. Japan's codes include a hyphen, as in Tokyo 100-0001 and Osaka 530-0001. For the United Kingdom, only the first half (the outward code) is given, such as London EC1A, Manchester M1 and Edinburgh EH1, and Canada shows the first three characters, such as Toronto M5H. Berlin is 10115 and Singapore's Marina Bay is 018956. As you can see, formats differ greatly between countries, and the table shows each in its local style.
I would advise against it. An overview-level code may not match your specific address, especially in a large city. The reliable way is to confirm with the recipient or look up the full address on the country's official postal service website. This table is better for getting a feel for what a city's codes look like, filling in details that do not need precise location, or cross-checking.
Chinese cities can be found by pinyin or English name, e.g. hangzhou, chengdu or shaanxi. For other countries all city names in the data are Chinese, so search with the Chinese name, for example 纽约, 巴黎 or 悉尼. If you only know the English name, filter by country first and browse the list.
No. Search ignores case, so ec1a and EC1A give the same result.
No. Every record is static data built into the page. Searching and filtering happen in your browser, and your keywords are not sent to any server. That also means the page can keep working offline once loaded, and that the data is not updated automatically.
The table covers major cities per country, so counties and small towns are mostly absent. You can look up the nearest larger city as a reference, but for posting anything use the exact code published by the local postal service.
Lookups are done locally. The city names, codes and country you enter are only used to filter the data built into the page and are not uploaded or saved. Copying a code uses the browser clipboard and only writes to it when you click.
